Oishi-san introduces an unprecedented Indigo x Black fabric, showcasing a remarkable depth of color inspired by his original 14oz creation from over two decades ago. This fabric revolutionized denim, elevating slubby denim to prominence. Crafted from short staple American cotton, it can only be produced on a specially prepared power loom, known for its slow output and frequent need for repairs. This new version of the classic is achieved through numerous baths of indigo rope-dyed yarns in the warp and deep black sulfur-dyed yarns in the weft. Complementing this are tonal grey stitching and black copper hardware, further enhancing the richness of color. Adding a touch of vibrancy is the pink selvedge line.
Designed with fades in mind, this fabric promises to evolve with wear and wash. The Indigo Black blend will develop high-contrast fades that stand out against the tonal stitching.
This Type II Jacket is a modern reinterpretation of the classic 50's jacket that seamlessly blends heritage craftsmanship with contemporary design, featuring side and inner pockets and premium details such as black copper buttons, high-quality pocket bags, a new and custom veg-tanned cowhide leather patch adorned with the face of a demon, and a fresh pocket flasher created specifically for this model.
Despite being a Japanese jacket, like most ONI garments, we find the sizing of this Type II to be more Western than Japanese. If you usually wear a size M in American jackets, you'll find a suitable fit with this jacket in size 40 (M). However, as always, we recommend consulting our size chart for the perfect fit. It is unsanforized but once washed, so there will be no shrinkage.
The legend of ONI is alive to this day. In recent years Oishi-San has devoted himself to experimenting with widely varying grammages, rough textures, different indigo dyeing techniques and novelty cuts while always maintaining a very limited production and wielding his experience in denim which now goes back more than 60 years.
